Illicit tobacco – don’t suffer in silence

Imperial Tobacco today announced the release of its second short film.

Imperial Tobacco today announced the release of its second short film, as part of its Suspect it? Report it! anti-illicit trade campaign.

In July of this year the first film, highlighting the increase of tobacco smuggling through UK airports, went live as part of an awareness campaign designed to highlight locations in which illicit tobacco is now increasingly being targeted by criminals.

The new film, which is also portrayed on posters and supported by a trade press campaign, depicts a retailer worryingly observing illicit tobacco being sold outside of his shop and the criminality factor which has infiltrated the community which he serves.

The message to the trade is clear – Don’t let these criminals harm your business or community.

Peter Nelson, Imperial Tobacco Anti-Illicit Trade Manager, comments; “This film shows both the anxiety and frustration which many retailers face at the impact this illegal trade is having upon their businesses and communities. It’s imperative that retailers don’t suffer in silence and support our law enforcement partners to tackle the illicit tobacco problem head-on. Our campaign message is clear if you Suspect it? Report it!”
