i newspaper Irish editions reduced in price while margins increase

All Irish editions of the i newspaper are to have a reduced recommended retail price (RRP), while retailer margins will increase.

From Monday 4 October, publisher DMG Media is reducing the RRP of the i to €1, with retail discounts rising to 27.5%. The changes cover all issues from Monday to Saturday.

NFRN national president, Stuart Reddish, said: “This is great news for our members in the Republic of Ireland. We are used to publishers putting their prices up not down, and retailers’ margins do not always follow suit.

“DMG Media is to be applauded for this move and I hope as many of our members as possible benefit from it.”
