The Post Office (PO) has hired Hithendra Cheetirala as its first postmaster director in a bid to “rebuild” its relationship with postmasters.
Cheetirala has been a postmaster since 2015 and runs two PO branches in central Scotland as well as a mobile outreach van.
He will start this month on a part-time basis and will take up the role fully in October.
PO retail & franchise network director Amanda Jones said: “We’ve introduced this new role to focus on bringing the postmaster voice into our day-to-day business, leading on meaningful and well-coordinated postmaster engagement.”
PO said nearly 30 applications were received.
