Confectionery and stationery wholesaler Harrisons Direct is introducing a new delivery firm in an effort to tackle delayed deliveries into stores.
In a message sent to customers, the UK-wide delivered wholesaler admitted its courier firm DX is ‘now unable to guarantee next working day deliveries’ on orders placed by shop owners. It said this was due to ‘the acute shortage of HGV drivers’ affecting the UK.

The news comes as the wholesaler, which also ranges toys, gifts and persona care lines prepares for its peak Christmas season. Describing its efforts to prevent further disruption, Harrisons Direct said: “To try and overcome any potential delays over the pre-Christmas trading season, we will later this week, be introducing Parcelforce as an additional delivery partner to help keep any delays to a minimum.”
Responding to outages caused by ‘delays of deliveries into our warehouse’, Harrisons Direct said availability on its website was being updated several times a day, and advised shops to use its ‘notify me when back in stock’ feature which emails customers when stock arrives in depot.
‘Rest assured we are doing all we can to bring you the best wholesale products,’ concluded the more than 100 year old wholesaler from Burnley.
