Guardian ups payments to HND shops for inserts

The Guardian has become the second national newspaper this year to increase payments to HND retailers for advertisement inserts following calls from the NFRN.

The newspaper has followed the Mail in upping the third-party advertising insert rates when they weigh 70g or more.

The NFRN explained it would continue to press other publishers. NFRN national president Mike Mitchelson said: “The extra weight caused by these third-party inserts does require more work for those retailers offering a home news delivery service and that’s why we have been making clear our unhappiness about current insertion rates.

“Payments will be backdated to 1 January; retailers must register through wholesalers or NFRN Connect.”
