Stores were warned of upcoming restrictions on products that can be used to manufacture explosives or poisons last week, after the Fed received messages from the Home Office.
From 1 October, the list of chemicals banned from sale to the public without an explosives precursors and poisons (EPP) licence will increase. Seven chemicals used to create poisons are also to be made illegal for public sale without the EPP licence.
From 1 October, sales of the explosive precursors to businesses must be accompanied by taking down purchaser details. Suspicious transactions and thefts will need to be reported within 24 hours.
The Fed advised government-produced guides are available.
