Home delivery firm GoGetters is seeking partnerships from independent retailers outside of major cities, charging commission rates of 15-30% per order.
The firm, which exclusively serves independent convenience stores and restaurants, is looking for investment to expand its presence from the south of England. It currently has 300 partners and specifically targets locations where rivals Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Getir don’t have a major presence. One notable partner is Spar chain Eat17.
GoGetters chief executive Simon Wingrove told Better Retailing the firm was firmly on the side of independent businesses. He added: “We don’t compete with rapid grocery or dark store models because it’s out of our league and it’s showing itself to be unsustainable.
“We cater for impulse purchases such as snacks, alcohol and tobacco. It’s about satisfying that immediate urge. We can help provide an important incremental revenue stream. A typical store will do £300 to £400 a week with us.
Setting up a home delivery service
“You’ve got delivery companies who have partnered with supermarkets and major chains. You’ve got a situation where their business models have changed to service major volumes and chains rather than convenience stores.
“In terms of service, we’ll always speak to stores directly when there’s a claim of a missing item or refund. Deliveroo automatically claw that back from their stores and the consumer isn’t always right. It’s one example of how we’re trying to help independent businesses because that one refund can have a major impact on a small store.”
GoGetters has a sliding commission rate of 15-30% per order, which is determined on factors such as whether a retailer chooses to use their own delivery drivers, or those supplied by GoGetters. The firm also provides tablets which can connect to a retailer’s EPoS, as well as bespoke marketing focusing on the local aspect of a partner’s business.
The firm also operates a ‘Community Share’ scheme, where businesses partnered exclusively with GoGetters can receive shares in the business.
