Rapid delivery company Getir is reportedly close to shutting its UK business, giving independent convenience stores in urban areas a chance to grab greater market share.
Sky News said the Turkish company is seeking funding as it shut down several UK warehouses and was selling off assets.
Once described by analysts as “independent retail’s next major competitor”, one retail expert said: “It shows the 15-minute home-delivery model and opening lots of warehouses isn’t profitable. Retailers near a Getir site will be able to take their suppliers and previous customers.”
