FedPlus benefit scheme offers retailers major discounts on everything from hotels to Halfords

The Fed's new reward scheme aims to benefit members personal lives

Stores can now benefit from discounts on everything from cinema tickets to phone contracts through the Fed’s newly launched FedPlus tool.

The member benefit was created in partnership with Parliament Hill, which provides membership perks for trade groups and employers. The move marks one of the first ventures by the Fed to provide benefits for members’ personal lives.

Participating companies offering discounts include Virgin Experience Days, Nuffield Health, Hotpoint, Halfords, Boots, Currys and EE. Extras include discounted airport parking, insurance, hotels and restaurants.

A savings calculator also shows Fed members how much they’ve saved by using FedPlus. The service is included free for all Fed members.

Speaking to Better Retailing, Fed business and engagement director Adrian Page said there are “too many great deals” to mention on FedPlus, with some completely free-to-use offers.

He added that the tool also includes “provider price promises” – guaranteeing the best rate from anywhere on the market.

“Everyone will have a different view, but we know the top five deals are on high-street shopping, gym and well-being discounts, cinema discounts, holiday extras and Totum Pro,” he said.

FedPlus benefits extend to all store staff

Not only will Fed members enjoy the benefits, but staff will also be able to use the offers.

The Fed director revealed: “The added bonus to the member is that as part of the phased rollout, they will be able to offer these benefits to their staff, too, next year.

“Finding and retaining good staff can be difficult, so bringing a corporate level of employee benefit to the independent retailer is a real help.”

The new service is a point of pride for Fed national president Mo Razzaq, who pledged to help members cut costs when elected to the position earlier this year.

Razzaq commented on the launch: “In my inaugural speech at the Fed’s Annual Conference in June, I spoke about the importance of providing more benefits to help members make money, save money and make business easier.

“Just four months on, we are delighted to bring you FedPlus. This is an exciting addition to our ever-growing list of member benefits that brings you quick, at-your-fingertips access to several offers across a wide range of categories, so the money in your wallets and purses goes even further in these financially strained times.”

Tom Sparke, joint managing director and client services director at Parliament Hill, said: “The Fed has a strong commitment to supporting its members, which aligns with the Parliament Hill ethos of placing the needs of our clients’ members at the heart of what we do.”

Members can access the scheme through thefedonline.com and by clicking on the FedPlus box in the member area.
