EXCLUSIVE: Nisa deliveries hit as major distribution depot floods

Stores supplied by Nisa's Stoke depot face disruption due to continued extreme weather.

Retailers receiving deliveries from Nisa and DHL’s Stoke depot are likely to face delays and cancellations due to flooding within the depot.

The incident occurred during what Nisa described as ‘severee thunderstorms and torrential rain’ hitting the depot, with the town of Stoke itself subject to two flood warnings in the 24 hours preceeding the complications at the Nisa DHL site.

The warning, sent to stores on 14 August and seen by Better Retailing suggested the damage ‘may impact some of tomorrow’s partner deliveries out of that depot.’

The news comes amid continued Met Office thunderstorm weather warnings for England and Wales lasting until Monday 17 August. The extreme weather has had other impact on stores, with card payments and ATMs knocked out across much of Scotland on 12 August. Oppositely, the heat wave the week before led a number of stores to report costly refrigeration system failures.
