Former Londis leader Martin Swadling filled a newly created retail support director role, overseeing the wholesaler’s retail marketing, digital and promotional strategy.

Regional director Stewart Fenn replaced Swadling as Londis brand director, while commercial director Dominic Morrey now oversees all group trading following the departure of his Booker Retail Partners counterpart Andrew Peek.
A Booker spokesperson said: “As we continue our focus on improving choice, quality, price and service, and unlocking bigger group benefits for all of our retail customers, we are aligning the Booker Wholesale and Booker Retail Partners trading teams.”

The restructure comes as Booker is to merge its Chef Direct business into its Best Food Logistics firm. The merger, unrelated to the retail and wholesale restructure, is to “optimise network efficiency” after Booker reviewed how the coronavirus pandemic affected its catering arm.
As a result of the merger, Chef Direct will leave Booker’s Didcot Distribution Centre next year, and the centre will be used to serve the company’s wider business.
