Subpostmasters impacted by MoneyGram services being pulled are to receive remuneration support from the Post Office (PO).
On 1 October, postmasters were informed that the service would be permanently removed, due to a contractual dispute between the two companies. A global cyber attack on 20 September had already taken down MoneyGram in PO sites.
However, subpostmasters impacted by the issues are still to receive their remuneration, while the two companies are still settling their dispute.
In a message sent to stores, seen by Better Retailing, the firm said: “While work continues to reach an agreement with MoneyGram following their cyber-security incident, we are making two changes for branches affected by the MoneyGram service disruption.
“For those branches that do not have Western Union services. We will make a monthly payment from 24 November to 25 April (remuneration months) equal to the average remuneration that branch received from MoneyGram services between 24 June and 24 August.”
The message added that, for branches with Western Union services, the remuneration rates for both Send transactions and Cash to Account transactions would also increase, covering the October to March trading periods.
