Ongoing availability issues with Rollover products are still impacting sales to stores, nearly a month on from when they began.
Several store owners told Better Retailing in January they were still unable to get frozen baguettes for Rollover hot dogs. In December, the food to go firm told retailers the closure of Holyhead Port on 7 December due to Storm Darragh had caused “supply challenges.”
The port is expected to partially reopen on 16 January. However, retailers were told to expect delays due to a backlog.
One affected retailer told Better Retailing: “I’ve not been able to sell any hot dogs, which averages at about £120 a week. There are still issues. I could go to another supplier, but this creates issues with forecasting as their baguettes may need to be thawed or prepared differently.”
One multi-site retailer also confirmed availability issues across their stores.
Rollover apologises and warns backlog will take time to clear
In the communication sent to retailers from Rollover, seen by Better Retailing, Rollover said: “We regret to inform you that we are temporarily out of stock on our fully baked pre-sliced baguette.
“This product is manufactured in Ireland and due to damage caused by Storm Darragh to Holyhead Port infrastructure on 7 December, we’re experiencing supply challenges as the port is currently closed which has been well documented across all media channels.
“We have containers of product currently queued and are working with our suppliers on re-routing where possible. The port could potentially open on 19 December but the backlog of trucks will take some time to clear.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and are working diligently to restock as soon as possible with our discussions indicating that we could be fully in stock [towards the end of December]”.
