EXCLUSIVE: Nisa launches home delivery platform

The service has already been trialled with multi-estate Nisa retailer LA Food Group

Nisa has launched a self-branded home delivery app, giving partnered stores access to the Co-op’s support services and driver network.

Co-op claimed the app, called Nisa To You, will offer retailers competitive commission rates in comparison to rivals such as Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Snappy Shopper. It did not specify the exact rate.

It is available to all Nisa retailers, regardless of whether they have a Nisa-branded store or not. Store owners are not required to join the service and can choose to work with another partner.

There are two tiers available to store owners. The first tier will give retailers access to the delivery platform only, and they are required to provide their own drivers for delivery. The second and more expensive tier will enable partnered retailers to use Co-op’s network of 60,000 first-party and third-party delivery drivers, alongside support from Co-op head office.

This means that, when a customer requires support for their order, they will be assisted by Co-op’s central delivery team, freeing up resources for the store owner. Stores will also receive full support in marketing the service, alongside indoor and outdoor PoS.

Nisa To You has been in development since the start of the year. The wholesaler claimed its main point of difference is that it has been developed for convenience stores from the ground up, and not for takeaways. Incentives will also be offered to help retailers attract new customers, while loyalty schemes could be added in the future.

Multi-site Nisa retailer LA Food Group became the first of the symbol group’s retailers to trial the service last week. Commenting on the app, director Arfan Hussain told Better Retailing: “My main worry was integrating the service into the EPoS and managing stocktaking but it has all gone really smoothly.

“We were with Deliveroo before, but Nisa To You is working much better for us. The commission rates are lower, which enables us to be more competitive on price. We’ve only had it for a short time, so it is still too early to tell whether there’s been an uplift.

“It’s been trialled in our East London site because that’s where we have the biggest home delivery service. I’m excited to see it get off the ground.”

Nisa retail and sales director, Katie Secretan said: “We’re always looking for opportunities to provide a value-add service for our retailers and ‘Nisa to you’ will give them a cutting-edge solution to meet the growing demand for fast and convenient grocery delivery.

“It’s still a really tough market for our independent retailers and we’re committed in being able to offer the right products and services for their shoppers, in a way which is most commercially viable for them.”
