Deliveroo has opened its first physical grocery store in partnership with Morrisons, located in central London.
The Deliveroo Hop outlet, situated on New Oxford Street, operates as a dark site, and allows customers to order on digital kiosks, or through the app for immediate collection.
Open from 8am to 11pm every day, the store boasts a range of 1,750 grocery items, from Morrisons Ready to Eat and The Best ranges, as well as everyday staples, snacks and dinner ingredients.
Spar and Deliveroo launch partnership
Deliveroo’s chief operating officer, Eric French, said: “We’re opening our doors and welcoming commuters, local residents, visitors and day-trippers.
“Our New Oxford Street store promises a new way to shop for Deliveroo customers, giving them greater flexibility and choice, and should help boost the area, with nearly two-thirds of shoppers saying they will visit other nearby shops as they come to shop with Deliveroo.”
Morrisons head of wholesale Hannah Horsfall added: “This store represents another key moment in our partnership. The store will not only offer customers a wide choice of groceries from Morrisons, but also a variety of ways to shop.” Several other rapid grocers have also opened dark stores to the public this year, including Gorillas, which opened one inside a coffee shop in Hampstead.
