Nisa and Costcutter retailers will now receive lower fuel levy charges applied to each delivery.
In a letter sent to stores, seen by Better Retailing, Nisa confirmed the charge was reduced from £8.55 to £6.10 on 17 April. Although owned by Bestway, Costcutter receives Co-op own label goods through Nisa, and have also had their fuel levy charge reduced to £6.10 as a result. Nisa introduced the levy last year in response to rising petrol and diesel prices, but said it would be adjusted depending on the cost of fuel.
In Nisa’s communication, it said: “The price of fuel over the last quarter has continued to fall and has remained consistent for the last three weeks, which means from 17 April the fuel levy charges will reduce to £6.10 per delivery, a reduction from £8.55.”
The wholesaler added it would continue to track the cost of fuel on a quarterly basis and make any necessary adjustments.
In an official statement, Costcutter also confirmed that it will continue to support retailers by paying back charges on behalf of those who meet a spending commitment of £10,000 per week and achieve rebate criteria until further notice.
