Hancocks has assured retailers it will continue to trade online, despite temporarily closing access to its depots last month due to the coronavirus outbreak.
In an update this month, the confectionery wholesaler said: “We are continuing to supply our customer base through our online channel. Our e-commerce business is performing strongly, online sales have doubled and we have responded to meet all Hancocks cash and carry customer orders.

“With hundreds of orders processed and delivered daily, we anticipate this to grow over the coming weeks.”
Despite the assurances, one supplier source warned that it had become “near impossible”.
They also claimed suppliers were not given adequate notice that the cash and carries were to close.
