Usage of products containing the cannabis ingredient CBD is “steadily rising”, with the market expected to reach £39bn by 2028.
New research by Product of the Year, published last week, found seven out of 10 Brits have never tried a CBD product, but managing director Helga Slater predicts growth in the category.
FSA increases list of allowed CBD products to 6,000
“We don’t have to look further than its success in the US, where CBD products have won Product of the Year awards three consecutive years in a row, to see the direction we’re likely to be headed in. This is a category that is rich in innovation, and we’re excited to see where it goes.”
CBD products are ingestible in the form of oil, gummies or capsules. In April, the Food Standards Agency unveiled a list of CBD products that are able to be sold in independent stores, in the latest step to regulate the market.
