Card payment fraudsters brought to justice thanks to Staffordshire retailer

More than a dozen stores said they were hit by the gang, losing up to £2,500 in stock and chargebacks

Card payment

Three alleged card-payments fraudsters have been arrested after a year-long spree in UK stores.

A shop owner in Staffordshire recognised the gang and alerted the police following warnings from other stores, including from retailer Ferhan Ashiq. The store owner said three men were later arrested.

A staff member from Ashiq’s store said: “It didn’t work with us, but [the fraudsters] were trying it in other shops nearby.”

The fraudsters used ‘card not present’ terminal functions to input an unlawful card’s details instead of using chip and PIN.

Other victims claimed the National Crime Agency was investigating. The NCA and Staffordshire Police were unable to comment at the time of being approached.
