Cans now make up a quarter of craft beers sold in the UK, with sales of the format increasing by 327% from January to August this year.
According to data from Nielsen, grocery multiples and off licences had increases of 349% and 140% respectively.
The rise in popularity is due to consumers looking for packaging that stands out, is easily recyclable and keeps the product in good condition.
Last year, 70% of aluminium drink cans sold in the UK were recycled, with 38 million drinks cans recycled every week.
Martin Constable, chairman of the Can Makers, said the growth of the canned craft beer market has paved the way for other drinks to enter the market.
“We are beginning to see a trend of adult soft drinks and cocktails looking to achieve similar success,” he added.
