Camelot has outlined further investment for independent retailers in the run-up to major changes to its main games.
In-store posters will roll out in October, with card dispenser Christmas lights for 13,000 sites to follow later in the year.
The October Lottery changes increase prize values to £25-£30 for three balls and up to £1m for five balls, plus the bonus ball. If there’s no jackpot winner on the fifth draw, the pool will ‘roll down’ – turning three-number wins into £100 prizes.
Camelot retail director Duncan Malyon told RN: “It’s great news for shop owners, who will be giving out larger prizes more frequently.”
Malyon added that since the doubling of their rep team in April, store standards are on the up, with 55% of independents now scoring 80% or higher in the company’s site, stock, sell programme.
Challenged on a trial that sees Aldi sites given Lottery services, the advisor responded: “We have to go where shoppers go. However, they are not getting the full range of games.
“I won’t apologise, but I can promise we are investing more than ever in independent retailers.”
