Byline Times launches on the newsstand

Byline Times, the first major news title launch since the New European in 2016, hit newsstands this week with its first print edition.

The title has identified itself as a news periodical about “what the other papers don’t say” and it will be launching with a world-exclusive cover story to attract new readers and a redesign to bring it in line with other monthly news magazines like The Economist, executive editor Stephen Colegrave told Better Retailing.

Byline Times has previously broken major stories such as the PPE scandal and the government selling GP data, and boasts over 30,000 subscribers.

“We’ve been very successful with subscribers,” Colegrave said. “But the awareness just wasn’t there. We’re really keen to be on the newsstand, to have that opportunity to reach out to people that maybe aren’t on social media. It’s good to be out there on the street.”

Colegrave told Beter Retailing that Byline Times is eager to hear from news retailers about what merchandising they want offered, and to email him with feedback or suggestions on stephen@byline.com.
