Britvic introduces in-depot messaging, reinforcing Soft Drinks Sugar Levy compliance

Britvic introduces in-depot messaging to reinforce Soft Drinks Sugar Levy compliance.

Britvic has introduced in-depot messaging across wholesale to help retailers differentiate between soft drinks which are zero and low-sugar, or compliant with the recent Soft Drinks Sugar Levy.

Shrink wrapped pallets with either single serve or 2L carbonated drinks will have the messaging of ‘levy paid’ or ‘levy exempt.’ The activity from the Robinsons and Tango owner is nationwide across partner wholesalers.

Britvic convenience & impulse commercial director Trystan Farnworth told RN: “This is a nationwide activity which we’ve launched following consultation with customers, retailers and trade bodies.

“The ‘levy paid’ messaging reassures wholesalers and retailers that they are buying legitimate stock, while the ‘levy exempt’ messaging highlights to customers the opportunity to capitalise on the zero and low sugar trend, which is driving growth in the soft drinks category.”

This news comes after the Soft Drinks Sugar Levy was introduced on 6 April. The legislation requires suppliers to add 18p per litre to the price of drinks with more than 5g of sugar per 100ml.
