Yoplait is moving into the adult yoghurt category with the launch of Skyr Natural, based on an Icelandic recipe.

The thick, creamy yoghurt is fat-free and rich in protein. It is also the number one chilled yoghurt and dairy product in France, according to Nielsen figures.

Its expansion into the UK comes as plain and natural yoghurt is growing in volume by 18.2% and value by 21.7%, partly by bringing new customers to the category.

“Yoplait Skyr is an outstanding success in France and Ireland, and we are looking to replicate this success in the UK. Our credentials are rooted in great tasting yoghurt and consumers have told us that Yoplait Skyr has all the elements that they are looking for from a natural yoghurt.”

The supplier is supporting the launch with an in-store and online campaign.
