Unitas Wholesale has launched two new category guides for crisps, snacks & nuts and the big night in, available now from selected depots and the wholesaler’s Plan for Profit website and app.

The snacks guide focuses on which areas of the market are in growth and where the biggest opportunities are. It also provides consumer insight, such as the fact that price is still the second biggest reason for making a particular purchase, with flavour the biggest.

It also features planograms for retailers to ensure they are striking the correct balance between category segments, formats and premium and value lines.

Unitas introduces annual Plan for Profit guide

Meanwhile, the big night in guide explores how shoppers are continuing to enjoy nights in post-lockdown, focusing on the occasion’s three biggest categories – crisps & snacks, confectionery and soft drinks.

It also suggests strategies to capture shoppers’ attention, such as dedicated fixtures with promotional offers, cross-category promotions, and eye-catching interruptions such as window posters and shelf barkers.

Tracey Redfearn, head of marketing and communications at Unitas, said: “Autumn is a key time for cashing in on the big-night-in shopper mission, as well as snacking, so these timely guides will be sure to help retailers drive their sales. The crisps & snacks market is growing by 14% in symbols & independents, making it a great time for retailers to focus on their ranging.”
