  • Supplier: Carambar & Co
  • RRP: £2
  • Available: September

Confectionery brand Terry’s is stepping beyond flavoured chocolate with the launch of the Chocolate Milk Ball.

Available from September, the new product launch will have an RRP of £2 and is aimed at tapping into plain chocolate sales, which are responsible for 40% of the category. It is in the brand’s signature ball shape with 20 segments.

It follows on from last year’s Chocolate Mint Ball, which sold out mid-season and become the best-performing Christmas NPD in the category, according to Nielsen figures.

Launching across all “major retailers” from September, it will have full distribution from October, the supplier says.

Lorène Decam, senior marketing manager at Terry’s, said: “We are always very careful to balance innovation with the brand’s core. Our research showed a 90% purchase intent for the new product by non-Terry’s shoppers, demonstrating a huge growth opportunity for the festive season and beyond.

The supplier will support the launch with social media, digital and out-of-home advertising and influencer marketing.

“Our ambition is to tap into the 40% of the category that is plain chocolate but with the unique ritual and format of Terry’s chocolate balls,” Decam added. “There’s a huge growth opportunity for the brand and the category.’’
