Suntory Beverage & Food GB&I (SBF GB&I) is bringing back its ‘Win the weekend’ competition for a second year, offering retailers the chance to win a break away from their business.

This year, the competition has expanded to give two retailers the chance to win a two-day break at a local spa, while eight runners-up will win a cash prize towards taking time off to relax.

To be in with a chance of winning, Retailers have until 5pm on 29 September 2023 to email their name, store name, address and contact phone number with the subject line “WIN THE WEEKEND 2” to SBFTrade@hanovercomms.com.

Andrew Pheasant (pictured middle), head of key accounts at SBF GB&I, said: “We launched ‘Win the weekend’ because our research told us a lot of retailers were struggling to take time away from their business, and we wanted to help raise awareness of that.”

Leading convenience retailer Paul Cheema (pictured right), of Malcolm’s Stores in Coventry, will return to help run the winners’ stores during their absence.

‘Win a weekend’ break with SBF GB&I’s exciting new competition

“When SBF GB&I came up with this amazing idea, I knew I had to get involved because I know a lot of retailers are in their stores for 12 or 16 hours a day, seven days a week,” he said.

“They’re not getting time with their family, and they’re not even getting time for a break.”

The supplier has also worked with retailers to create a guide to help shopkeepers create time for themselves, available here.

“We had a huge response to the first ‘Win the weekend’, but the extraordinary number of entries show us this is a key issue we need to keep working on,” Pheasant added. “We appreciate that not everyone can win this competition, but what we hope is that the education we provide will help retailers take a step back and look after themselves.”

Last year’s competition was won by Tracy and Michael Saunders of Greens of Bassingham in Lincolnshire.
