Pladis to launch Jacob’s Bites savoury biscuit range

Pladis is targeting the savoury snacking category with the launch of the Jacob’s Bites range.

The biscuits range is available in four varieties: Mature Cheddar & Caramelised Onion, Red Leicester, Sweet Chilli & Sour Cream and Smoked Paprika.

These will be available to the convenience channel from mid-August, following a launch in Tesco at the end of July.

They are baked, contain no artificial colours or flavours and come in fully recyclable cardboard packaging.

“We have spotted an unmissable opportunity to unlock further growth with a new range which will take Jacob’s beyond the cheeseboard and into brand new snacking occasions,” said Asli Ackman, marketing director – savoury at Pladis UK&I.

“Brits are snacking more than ever, and this means more and more shoppers are looking for quick, grab-and-go options for sharing, but existing savoury biscuits formats aren’t fit for purpose when it comes to these new snacking moments. As a result, the category currently under-trades in almost two thirds of all savoury snack occasions (64%), which means there’s a huge growth opportunity for the taking.”
