McVitie’s adds Milkshake varieties to Penguin Cake Bar range

Pladis is expanding its McVitie’s Penguin Cake Bar range with the launch of Strawberry Milkshake and Chocolate Milkshake varieties.

Both flavours will be available to convenience stores in mid-April, following a Morrisons launch on 24 March.

Available in packs of five individually wrapped bars, they contain flavoured cream covered in milk chocolate.

McVitie’s launches nostalgia-inspired trio

“These deliciously soft cake bars with milkshake flavoured cream are inspired by the trending concept of milkshake flavours, bringing a fun and indulgent twist to the beloved Penguin brand,” said Zeynep Daghan Erol, brand manager at Pladis UK&I.

“We are building on the popularity of our original Penguin Cake Bar, which has a rich and creamy chocolate filling layered on a delicious spongey base. We have introduced what we know are two popular milkshake flavours to our cake bars, and they performed particularly well in testing, where 69% of consumers found the Penguin Milkshake concept to be unique and 81% expressed strong interest in trying and purchasing it.”
