What’s going on in Budgens, Crouch End?

Drive your breakfast sales this summer by improving your cereals display, stocking chilled food and attracting shoppers who are eating on the go.

In Retail Express’ June 30 issue, we look at how you can drive your breakfast sales this summer by improving your cereals display, stocking chilled food and attracting shoppers who are eating on the go.

Tim Fisher, regional sales director for Budgens, who is overseeing its flagship store in Crouch End, London says: “Food to go has played a bigger part in our new stores than we expected, particularly breakfast, that’s why we’re trialling a porridge bar.”

Customers get a take away pot and choose from the available toppings, which are honey or preserves, dried and fresh fruit and chopped nuts. The bar is attracting a third more sales than expected.

“It’s been really successful. Adding an increased breakfast to go selection has driven more traffic in the mornings, from school-run mums and commuters, to builders on the way to work,” Fisher adds.
