The My Local offer will be based on five 'F's that will ensure customers get the best experience possible from their local convenience store.
1. Fresh

“Without fresh you’re convenient, not convenience, you’re a CTN or an off-licence. Fresh is the foundation," said Greene. "I’ll be setting minimum wastage targets – not maximum ones.
"Take something like sandwiches – if you’re not chucking away 4-5%, then you’re not keeping enough in stock to keep a credible range to be a credible retailer of sandwiches. Because of our obsession with fresh I believe we’re going to set a higher standard around fresh."

"People come to us because they’ve run out," said Greene. "Out of stocks are doubly annoying in convenience than in supermarkets because if supermarkets haven’t got my brand they’ve probably four other choices.”

Greene said: “It isn’t about being the cheapest. You make it quick and great quality and friendly, so price can move a little bit because the benefits outweigh it.”

Greene said: "In most stores we have four tills and three or four self-checkouts. We can offer that speed of service."

“Offering a fast and friendly service is crucial,” said Greene.
