Behind the numbers
  • Doritos crisps provide substantial opportunity to grow profits. Seventy-seven percent of retailers charge above the £1.75 most-common price of Doritos Cool Original 180g, going as high as £2.99. Doritos Chilli Heatwave 150g has the same most-common price., 56% of retailers charge higher, going as high as £2.75.
  • The same can't be said for dips. Doritos' Cool Sour Cream & Chives 280g, and Mild Salsa 300g, sharing dips, both have a £2.99 most-common price. Just 7% or retailers charge more on the former, 8% on the latter.
  • Looking at sweater festive snacks, Mr Kipling's 360g six-pack of Deep Filled Mince Pies has 73% of retailers sticking to the £2.25 most-common price. Twenty-six percent charge more, the highest price recorded £2.99.
  • It's a different story on Tunnock's Milk Chocolate Tea Cakes 144g. Forty-eight percent of retailers are charging higher than the £1.45 most-common price, the highest price charged being £1.99. In other words, this is a line worth thinking about if you're looking to grow profits.
