Premier Foods reveals PMPs with reduced recommended prices to help retailers boost sales

The company wants to help retailers make the most of the opportunity

Premier Foods is offering PMPs with reduced recommended prices for a number of its products, including shopper favourite Sharwood’s. With 83% of shoppers looking for promotions when shopping in convenience stores[1], the updated PMPs are designed to help retailers boost sales. The new PMPs come with a recommended retail price of £1.99 (reduced from £2.99) and will help retailers who want to promote great value to their customers.

Kitting out stores for National Curry Week

This National Curry Week, Premier Foods brought the Sharwood’s brand to life at retailer, Bobby Singh’s store. As well as gifting Bobby a suite of POS, including life-sized Sharwood’s standees, wobblers and floor stickers, Sharwood’s provided 50 branded curry kits for Bobby’s customers to help them celebrate National Curry Week at home. Each kit was packed with all the essentials for a delicious curry night including Sharwood’s Tikka Masala sauce, Chutney & Poppadoms.

Rob Craven, Customer Controller of Wholesale and Convenience at Premier Foods, explained: “National Curry Week was the ideal time to celebrate the introduction of the PMPs with reduced recommended prices across our Sharwood’s brand, as Indian cuisine was at the forefront of consumers’ minds. We worked closely with Bobby to ensure this activation was as impactful as possible on his cooking sauces sales during National Curry Week, and beyond.

“Independent retailers know their customers better than anyone. By working with our convenience partners to understand their customers’ demands, we can continue to deliver products that help retailers boost sales.”

Bobby Singh, owner of BB Featherstone Superstore, added: “The Sharwood’s curry kits were a hit, and were snapped up by customers. Since the activation, we’ve even had a 20% uplift in sales of our Sharwood’s curry products[2], showing how important it is for suppliers and retailers to work together to deliver these great initiatives to customers in exciting and engaging ways.”

Merchandising PMPs effectively

When it comes to stocking cooking sauces in PMP formats, retailers should make sure they stand out in the main cooking sauces fixture by including POS, such as wobblers, next to them. Retailers can also place them as secondary touchpoints next to complimentary categories, such as rice and other sides, to maximise impulse sales.

As the demand for value continues[3], Premier Foods’ updated PMPs will help independent retailers offer standout products whilst communicating value to their customers. The new PMPs are available in several Sharwood’s products, including the brand’s Korma, Tikka Masala, and Mango Chutney. A number of Loyd Grossman sauces are now available in PMPs with reduced recommended prices, such as Tomato and Basil, Tomato and Roasted Garlic, and Tomato and Chili.

Recommended retail prices are recommended prices only. Pricing is at the sole discretion of the retailer. Non-PMPs are available.
