IAA advice
1. Create job descriptions that promote skills learned within the job
2. Empower Hassan to take a bigger role in recruiting new staff
3. Reward staff for sales successes in their areas of the shop

Anil’s results
“Since the visit, my store manager, Hassan, has taken on the responsibility of benchmarking the shop with the IAA and looking at ways to improve in each category. I also asked him to be more involved in the recruitment process. As a result, he has found two new team members through people he knows and talking to them about the range of skills you can learn by working in a shop. I’m working on implementing a rewards scheme for team members, taking on accountability for the sales performance in their areas.”

“I’m delighted to see the progress Hassan has made under Anil’s guidance. Good staff are a valuable resource – to get the most out of them you must invest in training, and spend time developing them.”
