A category development table at the front of the store provides theatre and promotes new, local and impulse products. Amish has great processes including a list of backup suppliers which keeps availability levels above 95% and a daily rota of store maintenance and cleaning to keep the shop at its best.
He uses customer surveys and his EPoS systems to capture data which is analysed so he can replicate success. The store has Investors in People status and offers apprenticeships, has rigorous staff training, induction and development plans and high customer service expectations ensuring they regularly score over 90% on mystery shopper visits.
Amish took a rundown store turning over £5,000 a week, spoke to the community to find out what they wanted from their store and created it. He has quadrupled sales and this is still rising.
