Sharing confectionery prices
Behind the numbers
Confectionery has grown by 2.9% versus last year, with sharing bags playing a key role. This week’s data shows that, while the majority charge the most-common price, there are opportunities to squeeze higher margins.
As a traditional seasonal line, which many customers are prepared to pay more for, retailers could stand to review their pricing on Celebrations 370g.
More than half (56%) are pricing them at £3.30, but with 42% charging as much as £4.99, are you missing out on higher profits?
Lindt Lindor Truffles offers similar potential. Thirty-nine per cent charge as high as £6.99, suggesting the 59% charging £4 could increase prices, especially during seasonal periods.
This week’s outlier is Reese’s Peanut Butter Miniatures. Ninety-one per cent of retailers are charging the most-common price of £4, with just 7% going higher, up to £6.49.
