Booker is to help sign-up and support its partnered stores on Snappy Shopper under a deal signed between the two companies this week.
A statement provided to Better Retailing claimed the deal will ‘further enhance the delivery options available to Booker retailers, helping to drive sales and cash profit.’
While other symbol groups and wholesalers had already entered agreements with grocery delivery platforms, Booker had until now only conducted trials with several providers.
Many Booker symbol stores are already trading with Snappy Shopper. Better Retailing understands Premier, Budgens, Londis and Familly Shopper stores already account for a third of Snappy Shopper’s partnered stores, with many of them among delivery platform’s top performing sites.
Visits from reps, marketing material and Booker tradeshow attendance are planned to help introduce more Booker retailers to Snappy Shopper.
Snappy Shopper founder and chief executive Mike Callachan said the firm wants to ‘unite the worlds of wholesale retail, brand and shopper’ to provide local shops with new customers, sales and opportunities through offering online ordering and deliveries.
Booker Group managing director Colm Johnson added the deal was a ‘fantastic step’ and “forms part of our continued focus to deliver the best choice, price and service for our retailers.”

How the deal will help Booker retailers
Speaking to Better Retailing, Snappy Shopper vice president of media, groups and business development Greg Deacon explained that Booker’s promotions will now be advertised to shoppers using the Snappy Shopper app, with further exclusive promotions and deals available to drive more sales for stores.
Deacon added an EPOS intergration with Booker’s chosen partner – Retail Data Partnership (Shopmate) will simplify the process of selling online, ensuring instant updates on prices and availability.
Booker also recently launched a trial loyalty rewards scheme in dozens of local shops. Asked about the potential to integrate a Booker rewards scheme with Snappy Shopper orders, the vice president responded: “Rewards is something Snappy is exploring both in-store and online. Watch this space.”
Further Snappy Shopper updates
The deal follows a busy two weeks for Snappy Shopper. A deal with Allwyn announced at the end of July permits Snappy Shopper stores to sell National Lottery scratchcards for delivery for the first time. In Scotland a partnership with the Scottish Grocers Federation’s Healthy Living Partnership will fund stores to provide free bananas to customers every Wednesday in August, supporting the budgets and health of families during the summer holidays with their health and budgets.
