Booker has partnered with American Express (Amex) to allow its card to be taken at Premier, Londis, Budgens and Family Shopper stores, which will help boost profits for store owners, according to the wholesaler. The move will also see retailers supplied with more point-of-purchase materials.
Colm Johnson, managing director at Booker Group – Retail, said: “We are delighted that our symbol brand retailers can benefit from a new agreement. This deal will drive footfall to stores and help with overall profitability. Being able to pay with Amex gives shoppers another reason to choose our symbol stores and this has been warmly received by our retailers.”
Booker launches diversity networks
Amex is already accepted at major supermarkets, and the bank is growing its accepted locations by almost a third year-on-year.
Dan Edelman, vice-president and UK general manager, Merchant Services at Amex, added: “We’re delighted to offer more of Booker Group’s retail partners access to Amex’s loyal and high-spending card members. In the UK, more places than ever before now accept Amex, and we remain committed to ensuring that our card members can use their card wherever they want to shop.”
