Discounter B&M is to focus on the convenience sector to build on recent growth by opening between 15 and 20 Heron Foods stores by June next year.
The group recorded a 21.4% yearly growth in revenues to £796.3m for the first quarter (three months ending June) of its trading period. Heron Foods, its convenience chain, contributed £86.1m to this increase.
The expansion will take the number of Heron Foods stores from 268 to a potential 288.
B&M chief executive Simon Arora said: "We have enjoyed record sales in these seasonal product categories, which is a testament to the appeal of our highly disruptive business model."
