Bestway has become the latest group to partner with a home delivery firm, following an agreement with Uber Eats.
More than 80 Wine Rack, Bargain Booze, Select Convenience and Central Convenience Stores sites will offer 700 lines through the app.
Categories listed include alcohol, soft drinks, frozen meals, snacks and confectionery, with weekend-only delivery hours on stores checked by Better Retailing.
The news follows recent delivery tie-ups including Costcutter and Uber Eats, Nisa and Deliveroo, Booker trials with delivery app developer Zeus Labs, and the rollout of Snappy Shopper to shops outside of Scotland.
EXCLUSIVE: Delivery apps weighed against ‘dark site’ threat
A 1.5l bottle of Diet Coke was priced at £3.63, more than double Bestway’s £1.69 RRP. Chicago Town pizzas were priced at £4.35, compared to a £2 Bestway RRP.
Bestway Retail chief retail officer Andy Cresswell said: “As we look to broaden the reach for our franchisee holders, this relationship with Uber Eats is an excellent opportunity to allow consumers to interact with our stores.”
The scheme is open to franchisees that stock a “consistent range” with “close to 100% availability”. Bestway Retail said pilot stores chosen to help it “learn quickly” about deliveries were already live.
Toussaint Wattinne, Uber Eats general manager, said the deal would give communities the “day-to-day products they want, directly to their door for the first time”.
