Bakery chain Cooplands expands further into convenience with Kash Retail partnership

The company had its first convenience tie up in 2021 with Proudfoot Group

Northern bakery chain Cooplands is expanding its presence across independent convenience, following a new wholesale partnership with multi estate Nisa chain Kash Retail.

The firm’s operations manager Kevin Polley announced the partnership on social media, claiming Kash Retail would be the first independent retailer outside of Scarborough to stock Cooplands products.

The bakery chain first partnered with Proudfoot Group in 2021, supplying its range of pies, pasties, cakes and scones into the four of the Nisa retailer’s stores.

Better Retailing understands the new relationship is part of wider plans from Cooplands to expand further into independent convenience.

Polley said Kash Retail’s Ripon and Bedale stores will launch Cooplands products on 22 May, with another to receive supply in June. The firm is also looking at stocking the range in a fourth shop.

He told Better Retailing: “We had approached Cooplands after seeing them stocked in Proudfoot Group stores. It makes sense for them to expand into convenience as there is an opportunity here, especially in areas which don’t have a local baker or existing Cooplands.”
