TIP SHEET FOR CREATING A GREAT ENTRY
1. Know your strengths:
Identify the unique strengths and qualities that set your shop apart. Whether it’s exceptional customer engagement, community impact, or innovative in-store displays, emphasise what makes your store stand out.
2. Be confident:
Don’t be afraid to really shout about your achievements, no matter how big or small. The judges aren’t necessarily looking for the biggest changes, it’s the things that have made a difference to your team, your customers or your bottom line that really count.
3. Tailor your entries to the category you’re entering:
Customise your entry for each category. Highlight specific initiatives, strategies, or achievements that align with the criteria of the chosen category.
4. Provide quantifiable results:
Numbers speak volumes. Where possible, incorporate measurable results and key performance indicators (KPls) to demonstrate the impact of your initiatives. This could include sales growth, customer satisfaction ratings, or community engagement metrics.
5. Showcase creativity and innovation:
Stand out by showcasing creative and innovative approaches in your entry. Whether it’s a unique in-store display, a groundbreaking community initiative, or an innovative team development strategy, let your creativity shine.
6. Tell a compelling story:
Engage the judges by sharing the journey of your shop, the challenges you’ve overcome, and the positive outcomes you’ve achieved.
7. Include visuals:
A picture is worth a thousand words. Supplement your written entry with visuals such as photos, videos, or graphics that provide a visual representation of your achievements. This adds depth and authenticity to your submission.
8. Be clear and concise:
Judges review numerous entries, so clarity is key. Present your information in a clear, concise, and organised manner. Avoid unnecessary jargon and ensure that your key messages are easily accessible.
9. Demonstrate continuous improvement:
Highlight how your shop has evolved over the course of 2024. Showcase a commitment to continuous improvement and a willingness to adapt to changing trends and challenges in the retail landscape.
10. Check eligibility requirements:
Ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria for the Overall Best Shop category by entering a minimum of one other category and be in with a chance of winning £1,000. Double- check the submission guidelines to avoid any oversights.
11. Deadline awareness:
Mark important dates on your calendar. Be mindful of the entry closure, assessment dates, finalist announcements, and the grand awards night. Timely submissions and awareness of deadlines showcase your commitment and professionalism.
