Japanese lager Asahi has turned to the dark side as it launches Super Dry Black in the UK.

Available from December in 334ml bottles, RRP £1.99, Super Dry Black has an ABV of 5.5% and uses the same yeast as the original Super Dry but includes roasted malt to make it darker.

Samantha Catford, Asahi brand manager, said Super Dry Black would offer retailers a point of difference.

“The challenge for consumers, who are accustomed to full-bodied dark ales, will be to discover its surprisingly light, refreshing taste,” she added.
