Are you ready for the wholesale crackdown in April?

The Alcohol Wholesaler Registration Scheme (AWRS) will come into force in April, and retailers are reminded to check that their wholesalers have registered.

The Alcohol Wholesaler Registration Scheme (AWRS) will come into force on April 1, and retailers are being reminded to check that their wholesalers have registered.

The scheme, which is designed to ensure retailers buy alcohol from legitimate sources and crack down on the illicit alcohol trade, requires every wholesaler selling alcohol to register.

FWD chief executive James Bielby said: “By regularly checking that their wholesaler is registered and keeping a record of their checks, retailers will avoid the severe penalties associated with buying illicit stock.”
