Allwyn unveils state-of-the-art National Lottery terminals at National Convenience Show

Allwyn is installing new wave terminals with compact lottery terminals in 7,000 stores, followed by a rollout to 43,500 more

Allwyn, the operator of the National Lottery, unveiled its new, state-of-the-art terminals and in-store point of sale (PoS) displays at the National Convenience Show (NCS).

Among the new in-store features were an illuminated scratchcard dispenser and a Playstation.

The rollout of the new in-store PoS displays will continue throughout 2025. Allwyn is currently installing the new wave of terminals in around 7,000 stores with the compact lottery terminal, after which they will be rolled out to the remaining 43,500 convenience stores.

Alison Acquaye-Acford, Allwyn’s director of commercial partnerships and retail sales, explained that the NCS provided an opportunity to meet with retailers and allow them to experience the terminals first hand.

Retailer recognised by National Lottery for raising funding for good causes

She said: “All of this reflects Allwyn’s wider efforts to transform The National Lottery and demonstrates how retail remains absolutely central to our vision to responsibly grow The National Lottery over the next decade.”

Trudy Davies, who runs the Woosnam & Davies News store in Llanidloes, added: “I’ve had a good look at the new lottery terminals, which I’m very impressed with. And the new scratchcard dispenser is really striking with its lighting. I absolutely know that it will attract customers, and anything that does that is a great thing.”

Jyoti Rathod, director of Londis at Ayston Road in Leicester, noted that sales have “definitely increased” since the installation of the new scratchcard dispenser.

The NCS took place at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham from 7 to 9 April.
